The felt products and handicraft training were successfully organized in February 2023. A total of 20 people from target community participated in the training. Fifty percent of the participants attended this type of training for the first time. In addition to traditional animal husbandry, our target local herders have been engaged in household production of felt products for some time to improve their livelihoods. The special feature of this course was that it was conducted in a combination of classroom courses on topics such as household finances, household culture, and hygiene, product sales channels, packaging, and gender awareness, which satisfied the participants.
Participant of the basic training, S. Munkhtsetseg, a member of the Zavkhan bagh team, said, “This is the first time I am participating in the training. I found the organizers very friendly and united. It is a great intellectual investment for the people of rural areas, it is a step closer to keeping pace with society”.
During the training, we handed over the wool-carding machines donated by SPACES – project, implemented by GIZ Mongolia in cooperation with Ministry of Environment and Tourism to the members of the four community groups, which will be shared by the families who will be producing felt products. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the skilled partners of “Artis-Altai” Cooperative of Gobi-Altai Province, who organized the training together with us for the second year, and to SPACES-project which financed the training.
