Trip Summary

Durgun Lake has an area of 311 km2, stretching from the southeast to the northwest. The water volume is 4367 million cubic meters, and the average depth is 14.3 meters. The shore of this lake, which is adjacent to the Black Lake, is more barren than other lakes, and it is 50-100 meters higher than the northeastern side of the lake. The dunes of Baga Lake cover the bottom of the lake by pushing their sand and water deep. On the west side of the lake, the Tavan Khar tal, which is the foothills of the Jargalant Khairkhan mountain, the branch of Altai, is covered with Gobi pebbles. A small amount of sugarcane grows only in the area of Khom Strait, Green Lake Market, and Mergeni Shana. Since this lake has no outlet, it has very salty and brackish water.

In the morning, leave for Durgun Lake 75 km to the west. Having birdwatching, visiting the community’s eco-camp, boating in the lake, fishing, riding horses and camels, see the step ungulates in Khomyn tal area. Stay a night near the lake in a tent having a star gazing. Climbing sand dunes Bor khoshuu, enjoying an breathtaking view of "Durgun" lake and the famous Altai-mountains in the west.
